Your boards stay in your browser
Board content — drawings, text, images you add, Kanban cards — is saved in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB) on your device. The HiWhiteboard app does not upload board content to any server, and there is no account system.
- Anyone who uses the same browser profile on the same device can open those boards.
- Boards are tied to this site's address. They do not move between browsers, devices, or a different site address.
- Clearing site data for this site deletes your boards. HiWhiteboard cannot recover them.
- Files you export or download (images, backups) contain your content. Handle them like any other document.
What the site itself requests
Pages, scripts, fonts, and template files are loaded from this site. Apart from the statistics services below, nothing is loaded from other websites; the tools do not fetch images from other sites. A small preference (whether you dismissed the saving tip) is stored in the same local database.
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes request information such as IP address, browser user agent, requested URL, and time, for delivery, security, and abuse prevention. This is basic hosting data, not your board content. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Visit statistics
Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views without cookies and without tracking you across other websites. It receives page-level information such as the page address (without the #board=… part), referrer, country, device type, and page load timing.
Google Analytics runs in Google's consent mode. Until you choose Allow in the cookie banner (or if you choose Decline), it sets no cookies and sends Google only cookieless measurements of the visit: the page address (without the #board=… part), referrer, time, and browser and device information. If you choose Allow, it also sets first-party cookies (_ga, _ga_*) so visits can be counted across pages and days. Choosing Decline removes those cookies. Advertising features are always off. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Neither service ever receives what you draw or type, your images, board names, or board files: that content stays in your browser. The tools do not send any events about your work.
Advertising
The site currently shows no ads and sets no advertising cookies. If that changes, this page will be updated before any such service is added, and any required consent options will be provided.
Is a digital whiteboard safe for sensitive ideas?
HiWhiteboard’s app does not upload board content; it keeps boards in browser storage. It does not add application-level encryption, access controls, or enterprise security guarantees. Other people using the same browser profile may access saved boards. Hosting may process request information, and exported files contain your content. Check your organization’s requirements before using it for sensitive information.
